This Is Genuinely Off-Grid. Here's What That Means.
Otter Beach Treehouse sits low, right at the water, a screened cedar gazebo just off the creek, close enough that it's the last thing you hear falling asleep and the first thing you hear waking up. There's no electricity, no shower, and no flush toilet here. This is camping, just the comfortable kind: two cots inside, a hammock strung in the trees, a fire pit down at the water's edge.
Best for people who find moving water settling. A gray heron pair works the shallows most mornings, and Olivia, our resident river otter, lives downstream, elusive, unbothered, occasionally visible if you sit still long enough.
what's actually here
No Frills, Real Comfort
Sleeping. Two cots with mosquito netting, plus a 450-pound hammock nearby if you'd rather sleep under the stars a while first. Sleeps 2.
Bathroom. A port-a-potty is a short walk away, near the gate in the pasture, about 200 feet from the treehouse. There's no shower at Otter Beach.
Water. Please bring your own drinking water. We provide a cooler in place of a fridge, no ice included, so plan to bring your own or pick some up on the way in.
Cooking. A charcoal grill and s'mores sticks at the fire pit, plus a French press, coffee, and basic dining ware.
Outside. A fire pit right at the water's edge, one of three fire-friendly spots on the property, and a hammock in the trees. Fires in the pit only, please, fully extinguished before bed; we provide a bucket for that.
Connectivity. WiFi comes from a mesh network off our Starlink connection, usually workable, not guaranteed. There's a picnic table where the signal is strongest, if you need to get online.
Safety. Carbon monoxide and smoke alarms are installed. (Yeah, we know.)

Come and Go on Your Own Schedule
Check-in is self-guided, any time between 3:00pm and 8:00pm. Parking is in the pasture, weather and vehicle dependent, if it's wet out or you don't have 4WD, park at the entrance instead and we'll help carry your bags in. From parking, a short stone path lit by solar lights leads to the deck. If you'd rather not carry bags at all, text us 10 minutes before you arrive and we'll come get you by UTV.
Check-out is by noon.
30 ACRES TO ROAM
Wander, Sit, Soak, S'more
You're welcome to roam the full 30 acres, the creek, the pasture, the wooded hills, with two exceptions: the barn, and Orion (the geodesic dome) when another guest is staying there. Scattered across both ridges are forty-two benches we call the Sit Spot Network; nobody's mapped them all, finding one is part of the walk.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Up Front
- Seasonal. Spring, summer, and fall only, not available in winter.
- Sleeps 2. Intended for two responsible adults; not well suited to children.
- Leashed dogs welcome. Our chickens, ducks, dogs, or cats may wander down toward the treehouse; they get curious about a visiting pet. Bring a pet that's okay with that, and expect the same in return.
- Roam the full 30 acres, with two exceptions: the barn, and Orion when another guest is staying there.
- Quiet hours run 8pm to 8am. We're deep in a holler surrounded by working farms, and the neighbors are up before the sun.

Does Otter Beach Treehouse have a bathroom? A port-a-potty is about 200 feet away, near the gate in the pasture. There's no shower on site, and guests bring their own drinking water; we provide a cooler with no ice.
