Find One Place. Return To It.

The Sit Spot Network

Scattered across our two ridges are 42 simple benches in quiet spots among the trees where you sit, and nothing else is asked of you. Every guest is welcome to use every one of them.

TOO MANY TABS OPEN

You Didn’t Come Here Because Your Life Was Too Quiet

Most people arrive carrying the same thing: too many tabs open, in the browser and everywhere else. A phone that never really goes dark. The sense that even rest has become something to optimize.

An hour of scrolling through solutions rarely fixes any of that. It usually just adds one more tab.

What actually helps is simpler and harder to manufacture: somewhere to sit, with nothing pulling at you, long enough for your own thoughts to catch up.

Sit and think under the trees.

ONE BENCH AT A TIME

Our Son Zac Built Every One of Them

Every bench in the network was built from pallets and placed by our son Zac. Not all at once, and not off a plan drawn up in advance. One at a time, over time, walking the ridges and deciding, bench by bench, where a person would actually want to sit.

That’s part of why they don’t feel engineered. They weren’t. They were placed the way you’d place a bench for yourself, if you had 30 acres and all the time it takes to get to know them.

THREE STEPS, NO APP REQUIRED

NOT A MARKED TRAIL

Built To Be Found, Not Followed

This isn’t a marked trail with numbered stops. The benches aren’t mapped precisely, on purpose. Part of what makes a sit spot work is that you found it, not that you were directed to it.

Every guest has access to the whole network, whether you’re here for a regular stay or a Solo Immersion or Couples Reset retreat. If you’re doing a retreat experience, your arrival kit will point you toward one worth starting with. After that, the rest is yours to find.

FAQs

Common Questions

What is a sit spot? A single, specific outdoor place you return to and sit quietly, without an agenda. It’s a practice with real roots in nature education and forest therapy, not something we invented. We just built 42 real places to do it.

How many benches are in the Sit Spot Network? Forty-two, spread across both ridges on the property, all built from pallets and placed by our son Zac. We’ve found thirty-eight of them ourselves.

Is the Sit Spot Network mapped? Not precisely, on purpose. A rough sense of direction is all you need. Finding a bench is meant to feel like a small discovery, not a checklist.

Do I need to book a retreat to use them? No. Every guest at Wild Woods has access to the full Sit Spot Network, whether you’re here for a regular stay at Orion or Otter Beach Treehouse, or a Solo Immersion Stay or Couples Reset.

Can I put my own bench in the network? Not a new one, but you can sponsor one of the existing 42. Your name and a short word or phrase, painted onto a bench we choose for you.

HOWEVER YOU GET HERE

Come Sit With It

You don’t need a reason to find a sit spot. You just need somewhere quiet enough to actually use one.
